2022 Chevrolet Camaro Review
Chevrolet Camaro Overview
The all-new 2022
Chevrolet Camaro is not just a fun slice of throwback
Americana—it's one of the best sports cars in today's market.
The Camaro is one of
the most customizable cars on today's market, with a wide range of powertrains,
trims and styles. With nimble handling attributed to both body types, it
deserves its spot in this discussion for performance value.

- Even tinier trunk
- Hard to get in and out

What do We Think?
The new Camaro has
turned heads and won awards for its performance. Once upon a time, Chevy's
sports cars were only good on paper, but now this line of vehicles offers
something different: actual world-class handling that will impress even the
most demanding driver.
The 2022 Chevy Camaro
is more than just a straight-line speed machine with its sharp corners and
powerful engine.
Introduced in 2016
Chevrolet Camaro is a sporting machine that can tackle any road condition. It's
based on the Alpha platform, developed for the discontinued Cadillac ATS,
another great athletic car from its line-up. The Camaro is an American icon.
It's the perfect blend of performance and style, with power varying from
neck-snapping economy cars to V8 monsters capable enough for any road
condition.
Camaro is a dynamic,
powerful car that still has some flaws. The 2022
Chevy Camaro exterior includes:
The rear seat may be better suited for luggage than people. There isn't much
visibility through narrow windows; ingress/egression can become complicated
when you need room in the trunk. Hot hatchbacks are the perfect car for
practical people. For those who want a joyous drive wrapped in classic pony-car
sheet metal, there's no better choice than a Chevrolet Camaro!
This next generation
of Camaro will be the last with two doors and an internal combustion engine.
It's around until 2024, at which point a four-door electric replacement takes
over for good.
Performance & Fuel
Economy
The rear-wheel-drive
Camaro offers four engine options, with a six-speed manual as the default.
However, two automatic transmissions are available for $1 495 or $1595. The
base turbo engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic; it's the V6 and
eight cylinders that get ten cogs.

Safety Ratings &
Features
The NHTSA awarded the
2022 Chevrolet Camaro five stars, and it also earned Good scores in all
crashworthiness tests except for one: roof strength. The 2021 model had an
Acceptable rating. Safety features are sparse. Blind-spot monitors and parking
sensors can be found on 3LT trims. Still, automatic emergency braking or
adaptive cruise control doesn't exist in the vehicle at all times for some
buyers' preferences. While pony cars have never been industry leaders in
driver-assist tech, the Ford Mustang offers better features.
Cargo Space &
Interior Room
Chevrolet's Camaro has
a smaller interior and shorter rear-seat legroom compared to the Challenger. It
makes it challenging for carriers of all shapes and sizes who need room in
their car when hustling around town or on longer trips.
Cargo space:
- 2022 Camaro: 9.1
cubic feet (coupe), 7.3 cubic feet (convertible)
- 2022 Challenger: 16.2
cubic feet
Legroom (first/second
rows):
- 2022 Camaro: 43.9/29.9
inches
- 2022 Challenger: 42.0/33.1
inches
Technology
With its 7.0-inch
infotainment touchscreen, the Camaro starts as a competent sports car that's
affordable for most drivers and their families. It also has an 8"
widescreen with head-up display (HUD) wireless charging standard on 3LT trims
plus Wi-Fi hotspot compatibility through Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity
options are available too. The software is intuitive, and the Camaro's
integrated vent control rings make for an attractive design.
Recommended Trim
There are no fewer
than eight trims that offer multiple powertrains when it comes to the Camaro. Prices for
this coupe range from a base L.S. starting at around $26,000 up through an
automatic ZL1 costing approximately 68 thousand dollars. The four- or
six-cylinder engine is used in L.T. trim levels, while the V8 is found on the
higher-end S.S. model.
If you're searching to
get the most out of your car and don't want it costing too much, then this 1LE
Track Performance package may be just what. At about $46K we feel like that's
an incredible performance bargain.
Our Score 8/10
The Camaro is an excellent
option for those who want performance and style. It has excellent acceleration
handling capabilities that are easy to appreciate on the road or track thanks
to its responsive engine response time and sound braking system, making it safe
even when going fast. The only drawback? It's not as fuel-efficient or spacious
as other cars in its class, but still tons of fun to drive regardless.
