2022 Chevrolet Equinox Review
Chevrolet Equinox Overview
Chevy's compact SUV is
making a trip to the plastic surgeon for its 2022 model year.
With more attractive styling, this latest 2022 Chevrolet
Equinox also
includes updates on available trims and engines.
With the 2022 Equinox coming out this year, it is apparent that Chevrolet has plans for an updated version of their popular SUV.
The current-generation
model was introduced in 2018, so we can expect the second half of its lifecycle
before another fully redesigned vehicle is released with improved features and
performance capabilities.
What's New?
- R.S. trim with sporty aesthetics joins the lineup
- Revised front and rear styling
- A 2.0-liter turbo-four rejoins the engine lineup above
the standard 1.5T powerplant
Performance & Fuel Economy
The return of the
2.0-liter turbo-four is triumphant, but it's not optional on base models for
2022! The Equinox still has a 1.5 liter I4 that makes 170hp/203 lb.-ft torque
with standard equipment and will be available in both gas and hybrid
form.
When it comes to
performance, the Equinox 1.5T is more than capable of meeting your needs with a
scorching 8 seconds on average from 60 mph up through 124 mph! The more minor
turbo-four works in tandem against an automatic transmission and fuel economy
measurements around 25/30 mpg city/highway, which are sure not wrong at
anything you might want for this vehicle type brake by its competitors. The
smaller turbo-four works with a six-speed automatic to give you reliable fuel
efficiency on any road trip (25/30 mpg city/highway). You can choose between
FWD or AWD for your driving pleasure. We expect this same option to be
available across all trims in 2.0T.
The
larger-displacement four-cylinder should yield 227hp and 258 lb-ft if the 2
liter generates the same output as 2021 Blazer2.0T's model with an acceleration
time of mid 6 seconds.
The new engine offers more torque at lower RPMs, making driving easier on your back. The stronger turbo-four employs the help of a nine-speed automatic for shifting duties. The last time it was offered, this 2 liter Equinox returned 22/28 mpg depending on drive type to make its engine more efficient than ever before.
The New 2022 Chevrolet
Equinox R.S.
Equinox is switching over to the new R.S. trim level for 2022. As with most vehicles that carry this edition, there are aesthetic additions but no performance benefits. So buyers should keep their eyes peeled! The Equinox comes standard with a gloss black grille, 19-inch wheels and exterior badging. The R.S. shift knob is a bonus for those who want to take their car from good...to great. It also includes an R.S. shift knob and upholstery, which has red contrast stitching that distinguishes it from other vehicles.
Our Score- 7.7/10
The Equinox is perfect
for people who need plenty of space but not so much cargo with its flexible
design. The ride and handling are okay, and it uses too much fuel anyway. The
ride and handling are refined but use too much power compared to other vehicles
on this list. The technology infotainment system is intuitive if you want more
modern features in your future car.
The rest of the interior design feels bland when looking around elsewhere.
