2022 Chevrolet Spark Review

2022 Chevrolet Spark

 Overview

While purchasing a new chevy car, you might think that the price would be higher if they made them more challenging. The 2022 Chevy Spark proves this isn't true as it's starting at under $15K and has some features which make driving more effortless than ever before!

The worst thing we could say about these vehicles is their backseat smallness or how frustrating folding up seats may sometimes become.

The compact car class is known for its cramped quarters, but the Hyundai Accent and Kia Rio offer slightly more space than their counterparts. The interior doesn't boast spiffy materials like other models in this category do; however, they do manage not to have any iffy parts that mar an automotive product's overall quality--which makes them stand out against competitors. The Spark is a convenient car, and its engine performs well around town or in traffic. Suppose you want to experience the best driving conditions possible. In that case, we recommend opting for an automatic transmission instead of a manual gearbox which isn't common nowadays but can still be found on lower trim levels as standard equipment.

Where this Vehicle Ranks

  1. Hyundai Accent starting at 17,690 dollars
  2. Kia Rio starting at 17,275 dollars
  3. Nissan Versa starting at 16,205 dollars
  4. Chevrolet Spark starting at 14,595 dollars
  5. Mitsubishi Mirage G4 starting at 16,995 dollars
  6. Mitsubishi Mirage starting at 16,125 dollars

What is New for 2022?

The Spark enters the new model year without any significant changes. Its calling card is still one of the least expensive cars on this market, undercutting similarly inexpensive Mitsubishi mirage by about $1500. Unfortunately, Chevy announced that they would be discontinued after 22 months, with production lasting through August.

Pricing & Which one to Buy?

  • LS - 14,595 dollars
  • 1LT- 16,495 dollars
  • ACTIV- 17,595 dollars
  • 2LT- 17,995 dollars

However, we can't recommend the $1100 continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). While there is no Spark, one says it is "laden with content" or even has many features, for that matter. Driving a car with manual transmission is more challenging than people think. If you don't know how, here's an incentive to learn! The Activ trim isn't worth the cost and should be kept simple as Chevy does in their regular Spark model line-up.

Engine, Transmission & Performance

The Spark is known for its economic and eco-friendly four-cylinder engine, which powers the front wheels by a five-speed manual or continuously Variable Automatic Transmission (CVT). The gearless auto manages power well without droning noise at low speeds around town but is prepared to wait as it moseys up higher rates.

This little hatchback is great for short road trips, but it won't do you well on longer journeys. It has quick responses and stable motions, making navigating through traffic easy compared to other cars that may be too big or require more space. The Chevy Spark is an excellent car for those who want an economical yet safe option to get from points A - B. It has exceptional handling and responsive brakes that will help you stop quickly without skidding or sliding, even on rough roads. It does have some good qualities, though, like how well-balanced the handling feels and low noise levels when you're driving at highway speeds.

Fuel Economy & Real-World MPG

Despite the Spark's small size and engine, it doesn't get excellent fuel-economy ratings. You can expect to see 29 mpg rates; however, when equipped federally (or legally) passing on open roads, this exact vehicle will achieve 30 mph worth of gas savings per year! Highway estimates are 37 or 38 US gallons returned based on the model type, respectively. We're impressed by the Mitsubishi Mirage's impressive rating of up to 36 mpg city and 43 highway. When run on a 75-mph highway fuel economy route that is part of an extensive testing regimen, the automatic Spark LT returned 37mpg. Interior, Comfort & Cargo

The Spark's interior is a breath of fresh air in an industry often marred by low-quality plastics and shoddy craftsmanship. The leather trimming on seats, creature comfort features like heated front seats (perfect for winter!), upright driving position - all make this car more than just your average compact SUV! Climbing into your plane is accessible with the large front doors and raised seat height. Unfortunately, these spacious areas are only highlighted by flimsy cushions that lack any lateral support; it's difficult for an adult to sit comfortably in this car with three carry-on bags behind them! But luckily, there exists another space where you can fit 11 cubic feet worth of cargo--the backseat.

The Spark's rear seat is big enough to hold 15 bags, but its transformation from car to truck isn't as easy or fun. You have to move your front seats forward for the bottom cushions on them to flip up before you can fold down their respective backseat predecessors. Even then, there aren't any flat areas where baggage is placed while driving around town—only cubbies inside near glovebox which are protected by plastic trays instead.

Infotainment & Connectivity

The entry-level Spark has a standard 7.0-inch touchscreen with a Wi-Fi hotspot, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability! The infotainment screen is managed by a touch or rotary volume knob because of its intuitive design that's conveniently located at the base of each armrest for easy access when you need it most - like during those long drives home from work (or wherever). Two USB ports are placed below this center stack alongside another 12-volt outlet, so your devices never go without power again.

Safety & Driver Assistance Features

When it comes to safety, the Chevy Spark is all about performance. The most notable options are reserved for more expensive models and include crash-test results. To know more, visit the websites of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety(IIHS).

Important safety features include:

  • The forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking
  • The lane-departure warning
  • Rear parking sensors

Warranty & Maintenance Coverage

The Spark may have a lower warranty than the Mirage, but it's still better! The Chevy also includes five years and 60 thousand miles of roadside assistance that will make your car more valuable.

  • The limited warranty offsets three years or 36,000 miles.
  • The powertrain warranty offsets five years or 60,000 miles.
  • Complimentary maintenance offsets one visit for the first year.
